Celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the Hassania School of Public Works
Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify Him, the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Hassania School of Public Works (EHTP) and the Association of Engineers of the EHTP jointly celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the EHTP, on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the headquarters of this establishment.
This day of celebration was marked by the presence of eminent personalities: Ministers, Ambassadors, Walis and Governors, with the participation of various representatives of civil society and the private sector, including some former EHTP graduates.
Since its creation in 1971, under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works, the EHTP has been part of the continuity of the country’s independence process by training engineers with high technical and managerial skills, who have contributed, since then, to the construction of the country, the management of high-stakes resources and the support of the national process of decentralization and deconcentration.
Thus, the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary was an opportunity to pay tribute to the founders of this school and its contributors, and to increase the “mobilization and interest” capital of the ecosystem around the school, institutional partners, faculty, students and graduates of the EHTP.
It was also an opportunity to strengthen cooperation ties with the signing of new agreements with partners of the School, including: The Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Casablanca-Settat Region, Bank Of Africa, GIZ, the Association of Engineers of the EHTP and the Solidarity Fund against Catastrophic Events. These agreements concern the fields of scientific research, innovation and partnership, strengthening the employability of graduates, etc.
The alumni of the Hassania School of Public Works: Directors, teachers, civil servants and graduates participated in the commemoration of this history through their testimonies and their interventions recalling the contribution of the school in the main developments and advances of our country during these last 50 years.
This day was also marked by the presentation of excellence awards to the winners of the Hassania School of Public Works of the 2021 and 2022 promotions, awarded by the EHTP’s partner establishments and companies.
At the end of this celebration, a reading was made of the message of fidelity and loyalty addressed by the Minister of Equipment and Water, on his behalf, and on behalf of all stakeholders, to HIS MAJESTY KING MOHAMMED VI, MAY GOD GLORIFY HIM.
This day of celebration was followed by the organization, on July 6, 2022, by the three partners, of a scientific day whose work lived up to all its promises. Enhanced by the presence of a host of high-level personalities, this day was an opportunity to present and debate perspectives on the next 50 years relating to Infrastructure and high-stakes resources. The interventions and debates of this day were able to highlight the Moroccan experience in the sectors of intervention of the school, draw up a progress report and above all take stock of the skills needs of the engineer, taking into account, among other things, the energy, climate, technological and digital transitions and their repercussions on the professions and skills of the future. The day thus unfolded around the following conferences and round tables:
- Plenary conference on the challenges of infrastructure development in Africa organized and moderated by the African Development Bank (AfDB)
- Round Table 1: Challenges of the coming years relating to technological and digital transformations, organized and moderated by the EHTP
- Round Table 2: Climate change and securing water needs, organized and moderated by CID
- Round Table 3: Sustainable development and its impact on infrastructure, organized and moderated by LafargeHolcim
- Plenary conference on the Challenges of developing the skills of tomorrow’s engineers, organized and moderated by the EHTP with the participation of the professional federations: FNBTP, FMCI, FENELEC, AGEF, APC.
The discussions and testimonies of professionals and experts during the conferences and round tables organized for the occasion and masterfully led by the moderators, allowed participants to decipher the myriad of new dynamics and new challenges, including global warming, pollution of the oceans, air and soil, the virulence of pandemics, the extinction of biodiversity, the scarcity of materials, minerals and resources consumed by humanity, the acceleration of technological disruptions, the uberization of the economy and the shift of entire sectors of the economy and professions towards digital. These dynamics have accentuated the volatility and vulnerability of a globalized and financialized economy, ignited political conflicts, exulted in inflationary speculations, created tensions over the availability of critical products and exacerbated social, territorial and economic inequalities.
